Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Every fourth Sunday, Starkville Strong creates a welcoming space where community members come together at the back parking lot of Dunkington to support those in need with essential resources and compassionate connection.
Building Community Connections
Compassionate Support
We facilitate a welcoming space where community members can show compassion and empathy while providing access to basic necessities.
Needs Assessment
This event allows us to conduct needs assessments and identify potential Path to Prosperity clients.
Community Building
By bringing people together, we strengthen social connections that improve quality of life for everyone.
What We Provide
Food Items
Essential perishable and non-perishable food items to address immediate hunger needs in our community.
Hygiene Products
Personal care items that help maintain dignity and health for individuals and families.
Household Essentials
Cleaning supplies and household items that create safer, more comfortable living environments.
Clothing & More
Clothing, books, and various life-enhancing items that cater to diverse needs, with freedom to choose what's needed.
Our Mission
Our mission extends beyond distributing resources; it's about fostering deep and meaningful connections.
Dignified Selection
Those in need are invited to "shop" from available items, encouraging conversation and interaction.
Community Understanding
We believe that being in touch with the real struggles of our neighbors strengthens the social fabric of our community.
Building Bridges
This model builds bridges of understanding and empathy between all community members.
Needs Assessment
Building trust and getting to know our neighbors in need allows us to properly assess where the gaps are in the community. We use these events to assess and encourage our neighbors through hard times.
Community Partnerships
Bridgeway Church Partnership
Amplifying our outreach mission through strategic collaboration with local faith communities
Collective Impact
Pooling resources and expertise to better serve those in need throughout our community
Stronger Community
Building a more compassionate community together through meaningful partnerships
We are currently partnered with Bridgeway Church to amplify our outreach mission, reinforcing the belief that when we help our neighbors, we are essentially building a stronger, more compassionate community. By connecting with those in need, we're uplifting individuals and contributing to a more inclusive community.

How It Works
Our Neighbors Helping Neighbors program operates with a simple, dignified process designed to create meaningful interactions while distributing resources efficiently:
Participants sign in starting at 1:15 PM and receive a numbered ticket. This organized system ensures fair access for everyone while maintaining privacy and dignity.
Community Connection
Volunteers, community members and neighbors in need interact with meaningful conversations. This time builds relationships beyond the exchange of goods.
Shopping
We call 10 numbers at a time to browse through the available items. Our volunteers are present to assist by restocking tables, carrying sacks and helping neighbors to their rides.
We serve a lot of elderly and disabled at this event, so volunteers play a crucial role in helping our participants feel supported and safe.
Selection
Participants choose the items that best meet their needs. We encourage them to select what will truly benefit their households without judgment or limitations.
Each household receives two sacks to fill. A variety of fresh produce, meat, eggs, dairy and other essentials are out for the taking.
Resources & Support
Before leaving, we help connect neighbors in need with information about additional community resources and upcoming events that might benefit neighbors and their families.
Can You Pitch In?
We’d be grateful to have funding to ensure we don’t run out of food and hygiene items for our neighbors during difficult times.
Have Items Delivered
You can have items from our Amazon Wishlist or any local delivery service.
